Women in Transportation Initiative (WITI) Intern Interest Form

The USDOT Women & Girls In Transportation Initiative (WITI) is meant to increase the participation of women in the transportation industry and prepare young women to become our nation’s future leaders by creating ladders of opportunity and small business' economic competitiveness through careers, internships, strategic partnerships and education.

The Small Business Transportation Resource Center - Southwest Region is looking for eligible interns. If accepted, interns may be eligible for compensation or stipend dependent on the host agency. 

Qualifications: 

  • Attending a HBCU, Minority Serving Institution (MSI), or Tribal College (Preferred)
  • An undergrad Junior or Senior
  • STEM-related field of studies (i.e., transportation, public administrations, urban planning, and political science)
  • Receiving course credit
  • The Intern should work at least 20 hours a week for at least 6 week.* 

*The exact number of hours to work each week is to be set by the Project Director and the host agency.

Interns will be required to complete a survey or personal statement on their experiences following their internship.
